Israeli strikes on Syria kill at least 16 people, Syrian state media say: Israeli airstrikes killed 16 people in western Syria and wounded dozens more overnight, Syrian state media reported on Monday, the deadliest Israeli attack reported by Syrian authorities since the Iranian embassy compound in Damascus was hit in April. Two regional intelligence sources said a major military research centre for chemical arms production located near Masyaf, in Hama province near the Mediterranean coast, had been hit several times. -US Events-

  1. Pentagon chief says a six-month temporary budget bill will have devastating effects on the military: Lloyd Austin said that passing a continuing resolution that caps spending at 2024 levels, rather than taking action on the proposed 2025 budget will hurt thousands of defense programs, and damage military recruiting. โ€œAsking the department to compete with (China), let alone manage conflicts in Europe and the Middle East, while under a lengthy CR, ties our hands behind our back while expecting us to be agile and to accelerate progress,โ€ said Austin in the letter to leaders of the House and Senate appropriations committees.(AP)
  2. Georgia shooting suspect’s mother warned school of ’emergency’: The mother of the suspect in last weekโ€™s Georgia shooting contacted his school to warn of an “extreme emergency” and asked them to check on her son the day of the attack, US media reports. According to the Post, there appears to have been some confusion when a school administrator went to look for the boy, as another child had a similar name.
