The military said it used โprecise munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional meansโ to mitigate the risk of striking innocent civilians who were sheltering from the war in the encampment, according to CNN. - Government shutdown threat looms over Congress’ return: Lawmakers will return to Capitol Hill on Monday after a lengthy August recess to kick off a government funding fight with just three weeks to avert a shutdown. Congress has until Oct. 1 to fund the government during the pre-Election Day sprint. With the abbreviated timeline, lawmakers will almost certainly need to pass a stopgap measure to keep the government funded โ leaving the full-year funding effort for a later date. (CBS)

- Suspected Kentucky interstate shooter has military background, still on lam 48 hours after attack: The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Joseph A. Couch, opened fire around 6 p.m. Saturday near exit 49, authorities said, adding that the shooter fired 20 to 30 rounds, striking 12 vehicles. The U.S. Army said Couch was in the Army Reserve from March 2013 to January 2019 as a 12B combat engineer. “He was a private at the end of service. He has no deployments,” the U.S. Army said. (Fox)

- Class Action Suit Against Coinbase Will Continue, Judge Rules: Last week, a U.S. judge partially denied Coinbase’s request to dismiss a class action lawsuit from shareholders who accused the exchange of misleading them about the possibility of being sued by the SEC. The judge ruled that while the plaintiffs had a plausible case of negligence on Coinbase’s part, most of the allegations were not plausible. The bill would prohibit the remote control devices from using American communications infrastructure. The measure wouldn’t affect DJI drones already in America, where the company has sold more than half of all the drones in use. The bills all need Senate approval before they could be signed into law and with less than two months before November’s presidential and congressional elections it’s unclear if that will happen. - El Salvadorโs Bitcoin Bet Is Now 3 Years Old, Hereโs How Itโs Going So Far: Three years ago, on September 7, 2021, the country of El Salvador shocked the world when its president, Nayib Bukele, announced that the country would be adopting Bitcoin as legal tender. The county also began buying BTC to add to its reserves, growing that stash over the years. At the time, the country bought 400 BTC at an average price of $46,811, costing $18.724 million at the time. At the time of writing, the country of El Salvador now owns a total of 5,867 BTC. The Nayib Tracker website shows that the average cost of this Bitcoin stash is $43,884. Data shows that the country is now sitting on a profit of $34.55 million from its Bitcoin purchases, This translates to a 25.88% gain on its BTC purchases over the last three years. (Bitcoinist)
