The Egyptian ministry said the warning came in a notice sent by Iran to all commercial airlines. Tropical Storm Debby makes second landfall in South Carolina, heavy rain expected up the East Coast: The National Hurricane Center says Debby came ashore early Thursday near Bulls Bay, South Carolina. The storm is expected to keep moving inland, spreading heavy rain and possible flooding all the way up through the mid-Atlantic and the Northeast by the weekend. (AP)

Ripple Scores Partial Victory in SEC Battle: The SEC had accused Ripple of conducting an unregistered securities offering by selling its XRP token. The agency sought a hefty $2 billion penalty, arguing that XRP should be classified as a security rather than a digital currency. While the court found that certain sales of XRP did indeed constitute securities offerings, it also determined that XRP itself is not a security. Although many BTC risks haven’t materialized for El Salvador, the IMF stated that both parties agree on the need for enhanced transparency and measures to ensure fiscal and financial stability. WazirX to reverse trades after $235M crypto hack: The Indian cryptocurrency exchange WazirX is planning to restore the balances of all platform accounts following the halt of withdrawals caused by a $235 million hack in July 2024. “All users will have their portfolio balances on the WazirX platform restored to what they were on July 18, 2024,” the announcement said. Analyst Comments (AC): The USABTC article is highly suspect. In an attempt to portray Bitcoin as a lifeboat for the US Dollar and the economy, the organization is proposing a Digital Economic Zone (DEZ) where deposited BTC can be held without capital gains, until withdrawn. The language on the website (.org) seems pro-Bitcoin but in effect has the effect of centralizing Bitcoin holdings, issuing IOUs for them, and taxing them upon redemption. The effort is in opposition to the USG using Bitcoin as a reserve asset which they consider unattainable. Upon initial observation, this effort seems like an elaborate centralization and possible rug-pull by unknown actors.
