—Reports—
-International Events-
1. Nearly 100 people still missing after Moscow attack, Russian news site says: The official toll from the attack on Crocus City Hall now stands at 140 dead and 182 wounded, while 95 more people appeared in lists compiled by the emergency services as missing. (Reuters)

2. Haiti: US guns pour into Port-au-Prince, fueling surge in violence: “All the guns here are from the US, everybody knows it. If the US wants to stop this, they could easily do it one month!” He pleads: “We are asking the US to give us a chance to live, just give us a chance.” The UN report said some estimates put it at half a million legal and illegal weapons here as of 2020. It reported that guns and ammunition were being smuggled in from land, air and sea from US states such as Florida, Texas and Georgia. (BBC) (AC-The UN report is dated, and guns “pouring” into Haiti is exaggerated, but it remains that most guns have been smuggled over years into Haiti. It is common for the UN to release reports concerning gun manufacture and shipping in an effort to curb violence.)

-US Events-
1. The Economic Consequences of the Baltimore Catastrophe: Baltimore is one of the largest ports on the eastern seaboard of the United States. It is the fourth largest port on the East Coast by total tons of cargo handled. It was the first in terms of the volume of automobiles and light trucks (including 847,158 cars and light trucks), heavy farm and construction machinery, imported sugar, and imported gypsum, the governor’s office said in a statement last year. The port is completely shut down in the wake of the collision of the Dali with the Key bridge and the near-total collapse of the bridge. Economists call this a “supply shock,” and it is likely to lead to a resurgence of goods inflation and possibly temporary shortages of some goods. (Breitbart)

2. 4 dead, 7 injured in stabbing rampage in Rockford, Illinois, residential area: A 15-year-old girl, a 63-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, and a 22-year-old man were killed in the incident and five others who were injured were transported to local hospitals with “serious injuries,”. Police said a suspect is in custody and a motive is unknown. (CNN)

-Regulatory and Legal-
1. Australian Digital ID Bill passes Senate: The economy-wide digital identity scheme will now be up and running by midway through this year, a significant expansion of the existing government program which has now been running for nearly a decade.
“The final Digital ID Bill means people no longer have to share personal data and information like their birth certificate or passport every time they want to access a new service, and all in a far more secure, privacy-focused scheme with genuine protections. (ACSInformationAge)

-Institutional Concerns-
1. Cathie Wood’s Bitcoin ETF sets record with $243.5m daily inflow: On March 27, the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF witnessed an unprecedented $243.5 million in investments, marking a significant uptick over five times its usual daily intake, as Bitcoin neared the $72,000 threshold. (CryptoNews)

-Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDC)-
1. Currency Wars: SWIFT Network Directly Challenges BRICS: A CBDC connected to the SWIFT network is expected to be launched within a few months. The proposed 12-14 month timeline means that SWIFT’s CBDC threatens BRICS’ aspirations of dedollarization. Indeed, if it becomes a favored payment method, the dedollarization efforts of the BRICS risk encountering significant obstacles. (CoinTribune)

-Economic Indicators-
1. U.S. Debt To Reach $57 Trillion at Current Rate: As of today, the U.S. debt has crossed the $34.4 trillion mark and the unwanted growth is alarming. Data shows that the Federal government is adding an extra $1 trillion every 90 to 100 days. Going at the same pace, the U.S. debt can reach $57 trillion by the end of the decade in 2030. (WatcherGuru)

2. Gold Holds Gains as Traders Await US Data: Gold held just below $2,200 an ounce on Thursday, hovering near all-time highs as investors awaited a key US inflation (US PCE due Friday) reading that could influence the outlook for Federal Reserve monetary policy. (TradingEconomics)

-Security Incidents and Concerns-
1. Facebook may have exploited user devices to spy on competitors, documents show: In 2016, Facebook launched a secret project codenamed “Ghostbusters, to acquire, decrypt, transfer, and use private, encrypted in-app analytics from Snapchat, YouTube, and Amazon, according to a new set of unsealed court documents. The Mark Zuckerberg-owned tech empire discussed paying teenagers to install “kits” on their devices, according to plaintiffs. Facebook was caught using a cyberattack method, “SSL man-in-the-middle,” to intercept and decrypt Snapchat, YouTube, and Amazon encrypted analytics traffic. (CyberNews)
