—Reports—
-International Events-
1. Netanyahu survives another day with unexpectedly clear backing of Israeli Jews: With around 70.7% of votes tallied on Wednesday morning, Israeli media forecast Netanyahu’s bloc of ‌right-wing, far-right and ultra-Orthodox parties winning 54 seats in parliament, far surpassing 47 for the opposition bloc of rival Gadi Eisenkot. Parties representing Israelis of Arab descent would win 19. “Israel faces a singular historical opportunity, together with our partner President Trump, to remove the existential threat of Iran once and for all. But ulterior motives must not divert us from this sacred mission,” he said. (Reuters)

2. Spain train crash leaves at least 10 dead: At least 10 people have been killed after two high-speed trains collided in Spain’s Toledo province. Both trains were traveling along the route connecting the capital city Madrid with Seville in Spain’s southern Andalusia province. The crash has forced the suspension of the high-speed line linking the Madrid region with Andalusia. (CNN) (AC-This is the 3rd rail disaster just this year in Spain.)

3. Flávio Bolsonaro left Brazil for the United States after losing the presidential runoff: The right-wing senator, who lost to incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva by roughly 4.5 million votes, departed after a Brazilian Supreme Court order to surrender his passports in a money-laundering probe (which he denies). Brazilian authorities canceled his passports; a senior U.S. State Department official stated visas would be issued to him and his family. He was reported to have transited via Argentina and Ecuador en route to Florida. (Reuters)

4. Jordan conducted airstrikes in southern Syria: Jordan claimed the strikes on Oct. 27 targeted Islamic State fighters and killed approximately 20; Syrian authorities condemned the action as a violation of sovereignty and reported civilian casualties in some accounts. The strikes followed a deadly attack on a church. (Dawn)

-US Events-
1. U.S. forces struck an alleged drug-smuggling boat in the Eastern Pacific, killing five: SOUTHCOM stated on Oct. 27 that Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere conducted a kinetic strike on a go-fast vessel along established narco-trafficking routes after intelligence indicated active involvement in trafficking. An unclassified video was released; no further evidence was publicly provided. The action continues a campaign that has resulted in more than 230 deaths across more than 70 strikes since September 2025. (StarsandStripes)

2. Hackers targeted the U.S. Federal Election Commission’s electronic filing system: An internal email stated a “bad actor” was attempting to breach systems, prompting temporary shutdown of web-facing services around 10 p.m. ET on Oct. 26, one week before the Nov. 3 midterms. The outage blocked new 24- and 48-hour campaign spending reports; previously filed reports remained searchable. FEC IT staff were working to restore service; no data exfiltration was confirmed in public statements. (Reuters) (AC-No need to exflitrate data when you only have to change it.)

3. Judge to appoint special master in California voting case in setback to DOJ’s attempt to quickly intervene: The federal district judge overseeing the DOJ’s lawsuit asking California to segregate roughly 20,000 ballot belonging to individuals it claims are “likely” noncitizens appeared skeptical of the DOJ’s efforts to seek emergency action just a week from the state’s election. Judge Carter told the parties he intends to issue some kind of ruling governing proceedings on the case moving forward by tomorrow. (ABC)

-Regulatory and Legal-
1. Crypto Midterm Election Spending Reaches $176 Million as Industry Builds for the Next Congress: The crypto industry has spent about $176 million on more than 100 midterm races to build a bipartisan bloc in Congress that can protect its interests after Trump leaves office. (BitcoinMag)

2. Thailand’s Supreme Court recognizes Bitcoin as legal property: Thailand’s highest court has decided that Bitcoin is property. Not money, not legal tender, but property you can own, lose, and have stolen from you. The ruling came out of a violent robbery on Koh Samui. It may end up shaping how Thai courts treat crypto in civil and criminal cases for years. (CryptoBriefing)

-CBDCs/World Currencies/Strategic Reserves-
1. Jack Dorsey warns Bitcoin fails if reduced to digital gold: The Block CEO says Bitcoin only succeeds if people actually spend it, reopening the store-of-value versus payments debate. Dorsey’s argument is that Bitcoin’s success depends on broad use as a medium for payments and daily transactions. Satoshi Nakamoto’s original whitepaper described Bitcoin as a peer-to-peer electronic cash system. “Cash” is the operative word, and Dorsey has consistently leaned on it. (CryptoBriefing)

-Economic Indicators-
1. U.S.-aligned countries, led by Asia, slash U.S. Treasury purchases by 60%: Countries and regions most aligned with the U.S. bought a net $174.3 billion of U.S. Treasuries, excluding bills, in the first eight months of 2026. That was the lowest for the period since 2021, and down more than 60% from a year earlier. (JapanTimes)

2. US 30-Year Mortgage Rates Fall for 2nd Week: The average rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage in the US fell to 7.37% in the week ending October 23, marking a second consecutive weekly decline and providing some relief to prospective homebuyers and homeowners considering refinancing. Applications rose accordingly. (TradingEconomics)

3. Fed to Keep Rates Steady: The Federal Reserve is widely expected to keep the federal funds rate unchanged at 3.75%–4.00% at its October 2026 meeting, following a 25bps hike in September, the first rate increase since 2023. (TradingEconomics)

4. US 10-Year Yield Edges Above 5%: The yield on the US 10-year Treasury note edged above 5% on Wednesday, finding support as investors geared up for the upcoming Federal Reserve policy decision. (TradingEconomics)

5. Wall Street Rises as Tech Stocks Rebound: US stock indices closed higher on Tuesday as technology stocks rebounded ahead of earnings from major industry players. The S&P 500 rose 0.6%, the Nasdaq gained 1.3%, and the Dow closed flat. The AI trade largely recovered, lifting chipmakers and most hyperscalers. (TradingEconomics)

-Security Concerns-
1. Discord is making public chats searchable on Google: The change applies to Discoverable Servers — communities with at least 1,000 members listed in Discord’s public directory that do not require an invitation to join. The move has drawn criticism from users concerned about their conversations reaching an audience outside of their intended community, even if the servers are public in the first place. (CoinTelegraph)

2. Bithumb Says Hackers Accessed Internal System, Leaking Personal Data: South Korean crypto exchange Bithumb said an outside party accessed its internal mobile groupware system and leaked personal information. Also hacked, Brokerage Daishin Securities said the personal information of 38,490 customers, including names, email addresses and mobile phone numbers, was leaked after it detected signs of unauthorized access last week. (Decrypt)

3. 27-Year-Old Missouri Man Admits Role in Failed Bitcoin Kidnapping Plot: A St. Louis man has admitted his part in a violent scheme to steal bitcoin from a Connecticut family. Martel Williams, 27, pleaded guilty Monday in federal court in Hartford to conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, commonly called Hobbs Act robbery. Prosecutors say the people coordinating the attack wanted bitcoin belonging to a man who had taken part in a theft worth hundreds of millions of dollars. To get it, they recruited Williams and two associates from St. Louis. The crew was supposed to force its way into the target’s home, threaten him, and demand that he move the cryptocurrency into accounts the conspirators controlled, yet the opporunity never arose. (BitcoinMag) (AC-It’s interesting that there were masterminds that recruited a team to conduct the attack, indicating a more organized wrench attack system.)

-Technology and Science-
1. Anduril and Qualcomm Launch BlueChip: All-American Rugged Laptops: Anduril Industries and Qualcomm unveiled BlueChip, a line of rugged laptops designed and assembled in the U.S. to rebuild domestic computer production for government, military, and first responders. These secure devices feature on-device AI, harsh-condition durability, and components where over 90% of costs come from the U.S. or allies, with circuit boards made at Anduril’s Ohio facility and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips from Arizona. Prototypes exist now, preorders start in 2027, and while initial prices run about 20% higher, the focus is on supply chain security over cost. (X)

1. Bitcoin Wallet Maker Keystone Pulls Devices as Stolen Key Opens Door to Fakes: Keystone will destroy 18,835 unsold hardware wallets and has suspended shipping after an attacker obtained the permanent factory key used to verify its devices are genuine. The breach, detected October 20, also affected 25,964 buyer records from Keystone’s Shopify store, covering 2024 to 2026 and including names, contact details and shipping addresses. Keystone says recovery phrases and private keys were not involved, and that devices delivered before October 20 are unaffected. (Decrypt)
